Serendipitous 'PEARLESCENT' WORSTED

$30.00

SERENDIPITOUS - occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way. This is a semi-solid periwinkle blue with dabbles of subtle purple.

YARN - Superwash Merino Wool Silk Pearlescent Worsted - (50:50) Smooth with a gorgeous gleam. Sure to be a favorite!

MERINO WOOL is ultra soft, creamy to the touch, cloud-like and breathes so you stay comfortable and cozy. We had these spun with a very fine merino wool so it's incredibly soft and wonderful for next-to-skin accessories and garments. It has a lovely stretch and "memory" so it's a breeze to create hats, mittens, sweaters, socks, boot toppers, blankets and virtually anything else you'd need some elasticity and bounce for.

MULBERRY SILK is a dream... it glows and gleams and takes the dye so well, that the colors just pop like crazy. It also contributes to the lovely softness.

~When you combine these two fibers into a single ply yarn like this, you get subtle differences in tone as the wool and silk take the dye slightly differently. The colors truly appear to be iridescent and other-worldly.

•1-ply : For ultra shimmer and glow!
•Worsted Weight: Ideal for next-to-skin accessories or sweaters, sweet baby items, blankets and so much more. Great for all skill levels, even beginners as it's a popular worsted weight thickness.
•Superwash Merino Wool - Mulberry Silk blend (50% of each) - hand-wash only for best results. Super soft like buttah, with a shine that just won't quit.
•Yardage: 201 m/ 220 yd
•Weight: Approximately 113 g / 4 oz
•Recommended Knitting Needle Size: US 6 - 10 (4.00 - 6.00 mm)
•Crochet Hook Size: G - J (4.25 - 6.00 mm)

Note: Each skein is a hand-created, unique work of art and no two skeins will be identical, even within the same dye lot. If working with more than one skein in a project, it is best to alternate skeins every other row. Despite every effort to accurately depict our product colors, actual shades may vary due to differences in monitor settings.

BEST INVESTMENT EVER!
5 Stars

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I splurged on this yarn - I discovered Chandi's YouTube channel a few months ago and was always so intrigued by the yarn she used in her videos because of the shimmery, squishy, silky quality it always seemed to have. I debated for weeks on whether or not I could justify spending so much money on yarn but I decided to live la vida loca and take the plunge (ordered 5 skeins of the Serendipitous Pearlescent Worsted). And BOY what a plunge it was - straight into buttery, blissful nirvana. ADVICE: I invested in a yarn ball winder since silk yarns have a tendency to tangle, something I discovered when I attempted to wind my first skein into a ball without my husband's assistance. It was also my very first time ever using a ball winder, which led to disaster when I foolishly laid the skein on the counter and just trusted that the yarn would unravel itself as I went full speed ahead – it took my husband 6 hours (YES, 6 hours) to untangle the horrible mess I made enough to cut the skein into 3 sections that I balled into 3 separate cakes. After I had an extra pair of hands helping to unwind and hold the skein as I wound, it took maybe 5 minutes max to ball each skein. SO MUCH EASIER! There were a few times when the silk fibers would catch on one another, but a quick little snip (carefully placed to avoid cutting the actual yarn itself) solved the issue each time. As with all hand-dyed yarns, the color won’t be 100% uniform like something you’d pull off the shelf at Michael’s (but the color is true to what you see on the screen) – definitely something you’ll want to take into consideration when planning your project. The afghan I’m using this yarn for has tons of braided cables and Celtic weave panels, two patterns that are pretty unforgiving when it comes to irregularities in stitch size. The lighter and darker shade variations in this yarn make some stitches appear more prominent than others (since lighter shades highlight and darker shades create shadow) and as a result my project is taking on more of a rustic vibe than the polished, crisp appearance I was striving for. But c’est la vie, we live and we learn – serves me right for not noticing the variations in my foundation row and changing the pattern before I was in too deep! Basically, this is one of the best investments you’ll ever spend your money on. I can’t sing Chandi’s praises loud enough – her colorways are stunning and the quality of the yarn itself is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. Every single person in my life has had to listen to me gush about this yarn and then deal with me pulling one of the cakes out and making them squish it in order to appreciate how gorgeous this yarn is, I’m that in love with it. My new life goal is to fill an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling shelves with this yarn. Heaven.
