Shunki

$6.00

This pattern is designed with 3 skeins of Expression Fiber Arts Yak Silk Lace yarn (3.5 oz/680 yds per skein), shown in colorways: Blue Hydrangeas (color A), Ephemera (color B) and Rice Paper (color C), 1 skein each. If those colors aren't available, any shades from this category will work. We used 800 yards total for the scarf shown.

SIZE : Approximately 116" long by 12" wide.

NEEDLES: US Size 6 (4.0 mm) needles.

Notes From the Designer:

Pattern is worked flat, with lace sts worked on RS rows only.

•Shunki is a lightweight wrap with shifting bands of stockinette and lace that knit up easily without getting boring.

•Use this pattern to show off shifting colors from several skeins of yarn, or stick with one color for an elegant accessory that can be dressed up or down.

•You can work as many repeats of the pattern as you like to make your wrap as long or short as you like. Just remember that the lace will stretch with blocking!

•Shunki is my second pattern named after a character from the anime series "Saiunkoku Monogatari," or "The Tale of Saiunkoku" (Kocho was the first). One of the reasons I enjoy this series and keep returning to it is because of the strength of the female characters. There are no weak women in this series; each female character has her own unique strength. Shunki first appears to be a victim of family politics, on the run and in need of protection from the less savory members of her family. In truth, she's intellectually stronger and more steadfast than most of her family, and fully prepared to seize control of the clan leadership in order to right the wrongs her family has committed. I appreciate a well-written story with strong female characters, regardless of the form it takes.

I love this pattern. It is straight forward and easy to follow. A beautiful design that flows flawlessly. The pattern being done with changing colorways is beautiful. I also like that you can work as many repeats as you need...maybe using more colors giving it a gradient look. Beautifully done!
