Notes From the Designer:

The Aelinn (EE-LIN) sweater is a wonderful addition to your wardrobe! This casual pullover can be dressed up or down. Aelinn means “beautiful” in Gaelic. The herringbone stitch is fun and interesting. It provides texture and makes this a fun and relaxing project. I hope that when you crochet this sweater you are filled with warmth and joy!

  • Click the videos tab to watch a video on how to work the ribbing and the body stitch.
  • Starting chain does not count as first stitch unless stated otherwise within the pattern.
  • Pattern is worked from the bottom up in the round, and then split into panels to create the armholes. These panels are worked in rows and seamed together at the shoulders. Sleeves are worked in the round, attached to the armhole.
  • Pattern is worked in a multiple of 2.
  • Garment has 2" – 4" of positive ease.
  • For more length, add rounds before starting your armhole panels. For a bigger armhole, add more rows to your panel. For more sleeve length add rounds before trim.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn, alternate 2-3 skeins every 1-2 rows.
  • Work last stitch of each row of Ribbed Trim in both loops for a nice clean and even edge.
  • Use a stitch marker to keep track of row numbers.
  • Pattern is written in smallest size with additional sizes in parentheses as follows: XS (S, M, L, XL)(2X, 3X, 4X, 5X). Final stitch count for all sizes will be in parentheses at the end of each row/round. If only one stitch count is given, it is for all sizes.
