Notes From the Designer:

Every morning I get up and have coffee.  In my coffee, I always add agave. When Chandi sent me some yarn to knit for this new design, the yarn was called Blue Agave. I knew it was destined to be a part of the name for the shawl. When I designed this shawl, I decided to use a stitch that I found in one of my mother's old knitting books. When I used this stitch called the Woven Stitch, the shawl reminded me of butter! The Woven Stitch done in a fingering weight yarn will make a fabric that just flows through your hands. Well, the yarn has wool, cashmere, and silk. Why would this yarn combination not be like butter? Then you knit it in this great stitch.....yum!!!

This shawl is a right triangle divided into 3 sections and the largest section is done in the Woven Stitch.

If you have never used this stitch...be ready...you will love the final results!!!

  • Click the Videos tab to watch a tutorial on how to work a couple rows of each section of this pattern.
  • The shawl is a right triangle. The right angle is the point found in the middle of the back as the shawl is worn. The two sides of that angle will be done in garter stitch. The long side, or the hypotenuse, is worked with an in i-cord.
  • The shawl is worked in 3 sections: the first is stockinette, the second is stockinette with a twist - on the knit side you will knit in the back of the loop instead of the front loop, and the last and largest section is the woven stitch.
  • Pattern comes with written instructions and stitch count charts.
  • Instructions for the gradient version are given in the pattern.

I’m just a few rows in, but the pattern seems easy to follow, very detailed, and Chandi’s video was extremely helpful. I’m really excited to do a shawl with decreasing stitches instead of increasing!

This is the first pattern I've gotten from Expression Fiber Arts. I recently subscribed to their YouTube channel and watched Chandi's tutorial. It's been a while since I knitted since I mostly crochet but am taking a sock knitting class at my lys and decided to try this shawl. I love this pattern. It has some new to me techniques but I am confident if I get stuck I can watch the tutorial for help. And since I am a constant stitch counter the table showing the number of stitches per row and section is a godsend.

I am looking forward to trying BOTH versions of this pattern -- one in solid with Oxblood Cashsilk yarn and the other with the Copper Patina set.
