Intermediate - This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include: garter tab cast-on, increasing stitches by knitting into the front and back, carrying yarn up the back, and working with stranded color knitting, including trapping strands.

Notes From the Designer:

•Here in the early mornings, I look west, and watch the sunrise dance upon the peaks of the Snowy Range in the Medicine Bow Mountains. It’s this view and the colorful alpenglow that inspired the Alpenbow Shawl––a half-circle pi shawl that features a radiating design reminiscent of the light of dawn striking the high peaks and tumbling down through the cloud cover below.

•The Alpenbow Shawl is knitted flat using six colors of fingering weight yarn. You’ll begin with a garter tab cast-on, and then knit back and forth through seven sections. With each section, you’ll double the number of stitches, and double the number of rows, give or take a few rows. A combination of knit and purl stitches, yarn overs, slipped stitches, and other easy stitch combinations, as well as stranded fair isle color work, is used to knit this delightful, draping shawl.

I don't mind reviewing, I haven't made it yet, I have 3 things started and not finished in crochet and knitting. I won't list unfinished quilts I am working on. Cold weather is coming...I will be doing more needlework then.

This pattern is working up beautifully, though not for the faint of heart . The three color intarsia rows are killer with keeping the yarn untangled. Luckily there aren't a lot of them, just daunting on the rows that have 500+ stitches - at least for me!
