Notes from the EFA Design Team:
This beautiful shawl was inspired by our “Beloved Stars” pattern, which was originally designed for us by Emily Walton. Amado is a generously sized, gorgeous shawl/blanket (a shlanket?!) and is perfect for transitional weather when you want a cozy, snuggly piece to wrap up in! The colors are reminiscent of a twilight sky, as the sun dips below the horizon and ushers in the evening. The sumptuous, repeating cables dance and play throughout the design, giving the shawl movement and interest. It is a piece that you’ll surely love for years to come!
- Click the Videos tab to watch a video on how to work the cables in this pattern
- Be cautious with your gauge throughout the pattern. As written, this pattern uses nearly all of each color of yarn.
- This piece is knit widthwise from the bottom to the top. You may choose to place markers between each pattern repeat to keep track of your stitches. You may opt to customize this piece by adding or removing pattern repeats to change the length of the body.
- The chart is a multiple of 32 stitches plus 1, and there is a 3-stitch Reverse Stockinette edge on each side that is not charted.
- When working the body, slip all stitches purlwise with yarn held to the WS of your piece.
- The repeat for the chart is marked in red on the chart.
- When working the striped color transitions, carry unused color loosely up the side edge between the working yarn and the first stitch.
Erratum- Row 25 updated to show 1/1 RPC instead of 1/1 LPC.

Amado
This is a very well written pattern. The raised cables came out well. I think it works best with yarn that had a good drape.

Currently working on this pattern with goal of completion for Autumn's cooler weather. I am using the curated yarn recommended for the pattern - a worsted weight with beautiful sheen and fantastic loft that will be great for transitional temps. The chart is well written, but other than pattern notes, the design is fully charted. I found it helpful for myself to write out the charted repeat portion to cross out rows as I go. I highly advise watching Chandi's video on cables without a needle - it was a game changer. Using this method, the stitches maintain shape and size and the knitting goes much faster than when I tried a conventional cable needle. Once the pattern gets established, it is quite easy to read the knitting and quickly identify and correct mistakes. I used stitch markers to denote the border stitches and between chart repeats and the fabric is just flying. Great for TV knitting!

There is a mistake on the graph on line 25. The first symbol after the center stitch should be a 1/2 RPC and it is printed as a 1/2 LPC.
