Notes From the Designer:
Have you ever looked to nature to gather inspiration? Charlotte is inspired by the look of a simple spiderweb, particularly one covered in morning dew. This cowl can be a fun project to experiment with colors. Use bold, contrasting colors to make the web stand out more, or use colors that are similar to achieve a more subtle web. The colorwork is a six-round repeat and is rather simple, as a whole. The single crochet knit stitch is used to create nice, neat lines for the color changes.
- Keep tension loose when working the sc knit stitch.
- The inactive yarn is carried under the active yarn stitches. Floats can also be used.
- When joining each round, join with a slip stitch to the first stitch in that round.
- Changing color in a round: Before working the last yarn over to complete the stitch and before the new color, drop the previous color, and grab the new color to finish the last yarn over of the current stitch.
- The circumference of the cowl can be adjusted by working the beginning chain in a multiple of 8.
- The height of the cowl can be adjusted by working more or less of the colorwork repeat rounds. Keep in mind that yardage requirements will change if making adjustments to the size.
- If following the entire written instructions, the number of stitches in each color will be in parentheses after the stated color, and each stitch is a sc knit st.
