HOOK:

SKILL LEVEL:
Intermediate: This pattern is for those crocheters who are ready to combine a variety of lace stitches while working in the round. Skills/concepts include V-stitches and optional puff stitches.
Notes from the Designer:
Crossaster papposus is the scientific name for the common sunstar, a many-legged starfish. This circular shawl begins with a 12-pointed star motif. Stitches radiate outward in lace designs that froth like ocean waves. If you don’t like to work puff stitches, you can simplify the last section by replacing any puff stitches with double crochet stitches instead.

Time consuming
Made this for a friend. She loved this pattern and the design of it. Took a good 2 weeks with long breaks in between. Very pleased with this pattern.

Beautiful and easy to read pattern. I used the baby alpaca lace, same colors as the sample and the end result is just stunning! It was exciting to see the daily progress I was making and looked forward to my crochet time each day.

Easy to follow instructions. I love that everyone writes patterns differently. Already thinking of what color next. Thank you for sharing another beauty of a pattern
Crossaster shawl
This is a fantastic pattern that somehow produces complex looking results very simply. I find the repetition of rows very soothing and the results are nothing short of phenominal. I highly recommend this pattern.

Radiant
Beautiful pattern-easy to follow instructions. Simple crochet stitches that give this shawl a radiant look. I have made it twice so far. One with a one color silk lace yarn and one with cotton-acrylic fingering yarn that changes colors. Both are be stunning and all my friends have asked for it.

Amazing project
I have finished section 1 and about to start section 2 and I am a bit confused by the V stitch but I hope to figure it out soon. Section 1 is the show-stopper for me, I love how it turned out. This is my first big project. I made a few scarfs, beanies and hand-warmer last winter but nothing of thus magnitude. Thank you for such amazing patterns.

I am starting section 2 and I am kind-of confused by the V stitches, I hope I will figure it out and continue. I love this project, it is my first big project. Last summer I made small scarfs, beanies and hand warmers. Thank you so much for such beautiful patterns.

I’m not completely a newbie but I’ve not had a ton of experience with crocheting, however I really enjoy it. It’s such a relaxing escape for me. I am completely new to knitting and was always curious to learn. But seeing this piece, I could only exclaim…….”what an absolutely beautiful item to challenge myself with!” It’s gorgeous and I cannot wait to embark on this crocheting journey.

What a beautiful, clever and unique pattern! I haven't started it yet but it's next in my queue! Thank you so much!
Yarn
I'm so sorry, however, I had ordered yarn for a project and at this time I can not remember which one; nonetheless, when I received the yarn I loved the color! I want to make an afghan for my granddaughter. In addition, it felt wonderful. I'm just sorry I made the mistake of ordering and having to take it all apart (hours of work) because I don't have one of those machines to unravel it for me to crochet or knit. This was simply my fault. I'm sorry. I'm just frustrated. However, I do love the yarn for her. I have only unraveled 1 skein. Thank you and take care.

Love this Pattern
Need to finish up current project. Can't wait to get started on this one, the pattern looks like it will be a very relaxing pattern to follow, I've been crocheting over 36 years now. The Alpaca/Silk Yarn is wonderful, will be wonderful to work with. Finished project will be great!
Crossaster pattern
This is so reminiscent of the vintage patterns that were my Nana's. Easy to follow directions and really beautiful drape when finished.

I have not had a chance to make this yet. I have 2 other projects to finish first. But I can't wait.
Crossaster
Absolutely beautiful masterpiece. Well written pattern that even a "adventurous" beginner could tackle. I'm finding it a very soothing project as I work in the rounds and the best part is that I will wind up with a gorgeous garment when done! Have started 2 of these...one in a sparkly cotton and another in a wool blend. I believe this would work up great in ANY yarn. Another hit from Janica! Thank you so much for all your hard work creating this work of art :)
Crossaster Shawl Pattern
One of those patterns that you fall in love with at first site. Ordered the yarn , in same colors as the sample, and they are wonderful and squishy. A few shawls ahead of this one, then will begin.
