MATERIAL:

Expression Fiber Arts Sparkle DK Weight Yarn

Shown in: Oxblood (A), Red Ranunculus (B), Burgundy (C), and Tawny Port (D). (Also sold as a kit: Enchanted Hues)

1 skein each color needed (275 yds/3.5 oz each)

If this color isn't available, any from this category will work. Approximately 1000 yards were used for the sample shown.

NEEDLES:

US 10 (6.00 mm) 40” (100 cm) circular to hold the large number of stitches.

Adventurous Beginner -  This pattern is for those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations, including the sk2po stitch.

Notes From the Designer:

Enchanted is a simple shrug style or unstructured cardigan made from a basic rectangle. This cardigan features easy lace repeats between uncomplicated garter stitch columns. A 2x2 ribbing runs along the top and bottom of the piece when laid flat, and creates a lovely trim along the front once the cardigan is seamed to shape. This is a perfect project for road trips to your favorite enchanted destination.

This cardigan is worked from the bottom up in a simple rectangular shape. Once finished and blocked, the piece is then folded in half and seams worked along indicated lengths on each side to form armholes.

•Click the videos tab for a demonstration of the lace stitching for the body as well as how to fold and seam the piece.

Merriam-Webster defines “enchanted” as: ‘placed under or as if under a magic spell’, ‘having or seeming to have a magical quality’, and ‘made to feel delightfully pleased or charmed.’

I added different elements to this design that are meant to help keep the attention of the knitter while also being simple enough for adventurous beginners to expand their skills. For the name of the pattern, I looked no further than my own feelings when I first knit the swatch. I was thoroughly enchanted with the way the different stitch patterns complemented each other, with the stitch definition created by the larger needles, and with the sparkle of the DK weight yarn base chosen for the project.

I was kinda disappointed with this one because I thought it was for a crochet pattern but I was wrong it's for knitting.

when I made it the cardigan came out waay too big. 183 stitches is way too big for me, however, the cardigan has a nice pattern overall.

This is such a beautiful pattern that it’s next on my list of items to do. I watched the videos that you made to explain how to do this are very well done and make it easier to visualize for new or novice knitters to understand. I have been knitting for over 60 years off and on over the years. Even though I’m more experienced, I look forward to making this cardigan. Thank you very much. Keep safe
