Epicharmus

$6.00

SIZE: 30" W x 33" L from shoulder to bottom edge

MATERIALS:

Expression Fiber Arts Pearlescent Fingering

Shown in: Secrets of the Sakura Kit - 5 colors

4 oz /550 yds each skein (20 oz/2750 yds kit total) Total yarn used: approx. 1350 yds.

The sample shown used the colors in this order: C1) Gray/navy, C2) Green, C3) Darker purple/red, C4) Blue, C5) Lighter purple/red

If not available, any from this category will work.

Needles:

US size 6 (4mm) 24" (80 cm) or longer circular needles

Level: Intermediate - This pattern is for those knitters who are ready to learn mosaic knitting. Skills/concepts include slipping stitches and continuous I-cord.

Notes From the Designer, Janica York Carter:

•Greek philosopher Epicharmus tried to explain the nature of optical illusions in 500 B.C.E. He theorized that our brains could perceive an image clearly but that our senses betrayed us when viewing optical illusions. Mosaic knitting can seem like an optical illusion. Mosaic knitting is a deceptively simple technique that can create intricate designs while never using more than one strand of yarn each row.

•You can use all three stitch patterns as I did, or you can choose just one or two to use throughout. An I-cord cast-on continues up the sides and ends in an I-cord bind-off for understated finishing. This seamless piece is one size fits most, although length and shoulder drape may alter in appearance based on individual frames. You can easily reduce or increase the number of repeats—length or width—if desired. There is ample yardage in the kit to do so.

•Contains both written and charted directions.

•Click the Videos tab to learn how to work Judy’s magic cast on, i-cord cast on with continuous icord edge, foundation rows and up to row 3 of the first fan section.

•A showstopper for sure! You'll love wearing this gorgeous design with jeans and t-shirts or for fancier occasions!

You'll receive a digital file only (instantly downloadable as a PDF) and won't be shipped anything. Please allow a few minutes for the download link to be emailed to you. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, just log into your account on our site and you'll see your Completed Orders. From there, you'll find the download link.

Enjoy your knitting!

Love, love this pattern. I can't wait to start it after I complete my current project. I love EFA patterns; they work up so well and the yarn is out of this world. Thank you!

Finished except for blocking and one of the most interesting and exciting pieces I've worked to date due to the nature of the color changes combined with the stitch patterns. Was thankful for the video that made the I-cord cast on easy-peasy. Can't wait to wear!

This yarn is so soft and beautiful. However, it is very slippery if used with metal needles. I was getting frustrated controlling my knitting until I switched to bamboo needles. Now all is well, and I am loving how it feels!!! The colors and sheen are luxurious!!

beautiful pattern with interesting color work patterning. It's in my queue, so I haven't had an opportunity to make it yet. But it looks like something that will not get boring during the process of knitting it up.
