This knitted hat pattern is so cozy it’s like a loving hug for your head. Pop this hat on when you’re running to the grocery store on a cold day, or when headed to a relaxed family bonfire. Wear it around the house or while raking leaves! You’ll feel warm, loved and comfy. One size fits most adult heads!
I used 2 skeins (163 yards of in total, so I had some left over) of aran weight lambswool yarn and size US 9 (5.5 mm) needles. This yarn is no longer available, so any one skein of my Dewy Dk or Pearlescent Worsted weight yarns would be a good substitute.
The overall look of this hat is soft, relaxed, casual and comfy... the subtle swirls around the brim almost remind me of a cupcake!
You can use double pointed needles or the magic loop method like I did, as you'll be working in the round.

Fun project!
I’ve knitted a few of these “from the top down” hats and people love them. It a comfy hat that’s an easy pattern and not extra bulky. Love it!
Hug For Your Head

What’s wrong with me?
What am I missing, I can’t work the first round to get 12 sts.
Hug for your head
Never made a hat before, but this hat inspired me! I’m loving the magic loop method you have shown. Working up great, but then came to the brim. I’m having trouble visualizing it. Does the chain add a stitch? Also the following round. Looked for a tutorial video but could not find one. Help please!!!
Hug for your head hat
Love the look of the hat. Never made one before but this inspired me! I’m enjoying also the magic loop method you have show. But now I’m to the brim and having trouble visualizing the chains. Can make chains, that’s not the problem, Does adding the chain and connecting add a stitch? Also the round following. Looked for a tutorial, but didn’t see one. Help please.
absolutely love it!
So easy to make and a lot of fun, too! I was a little concerned while I was knitting it because both myself and the person I had planned to knit another for as a gift both have a lot of volume in our very long hair, but there was a pleasant amount of stretch in the finished project that we both adore!
Warmth for indoors
I made this cute hat this week and love how it turned out, not too tight but stays on my head. I’m taking chemo now and expect my head to be bald so I need something inside in these winter months to keep that head warm and cozy but not overheated. My Mom likes it so much she has requested one so here we go again. Very interesting design to knit.
