Kanbalar

$0.00

This pattern is designed for use with one skein of our Luster Sport Yarn in colorway: Belgian Chocolate Shavings. You'll need US Size 5 (3.75 mm) 9" circular needles (or 32" or longer for Magic Loop) and/or DPNs.

Notes From the Designer:

•Sometimes reverse stockinette can be just as pretty as stockinette stitch. However, I know there are a lot of knitters who don't like to purl. To get the best of both worlds, these mitts are worked knit side out, then turned purl side out before finishing the thumb. Voila! The joy of reverse stockinette without the pain of purling every round!
•These mitts work up quickly with sport weight yarn held double, which also provides some extra warmth for those chilly mornings that aren't yet ready to give way to spring.
•I was working on the sample while bingeing on one of my favorite video games, Tales of Xillia. I named them after the city of Kanbalar, which is located high in the mountains of the country of Auj Oule. I like that location in the game because it's always snowy and even the non-playable characters have great winter costumes (I'm a fan of anything not summer, but especially winter). I know the characters in Kanbalar would probably prefer mittens to mitts, but sometimes you need your fingers free to work while still keeping your hands warm, particularly if you work in a shop or inn!

I am looking forward to trying this pattern for fingerless gloves. I am a harp student and have heard of other harpists using them in the winter.

Kanbalar Knitted Mitts Pattern

I like the finer look of these mitts. For anyone who has aversions to purling, no fears, the pattern takes care of that. They would make lovely gifts.

Kanbalar Knitted Mitts Pattern

I love the finer look of these mitts. Although I have no qualms about purling, for those who do the way they are worked makes that a non-issue. They will make lovely Christmas gifts.
