Notes From the Designer:

•This shawl design came about by my need for something relatively uncomplicated to work on, removing my thoughts from the troubling times that our world currently faces. I am not typically enthusiastic about knitting a lot of garter stitch, but, when I am feeling stressed, I find it quite soothing. Somehow the predictable rhythm of it helps my troubles fade away, allowing my thoughts to wander and my mind to relax. Malana, a Hawaiian name that means calming or relaxing, seemed the perfect name for this shawl.

•This design is very customizable. Any weight yarn may be used, and the shawl may be made to almost any length. Several cable options are available to choose from, based on your experience and comfort level. Once all of the markers are in place, you may only need to refer back to the pattern when you are ready to knit the finishing edge. This edge is worked in a way that reduces the cables to ribbing, which then proceed perpendicular across the top of the shawl and finally fade off into a point.

Sweet Malana

This is a simple yet elegant pattern. The garter stitch body acts as a simple background for the edge which will peek out when wrapped around the neck. Definitely a Christmas gift for someone special.

The beauty and simplicity of this beauty of this shawl is made all the more gorgeous by the CashSilk Sock yarn that is used to knit this beautiful addition to any woman's wardrobe. It is easy to knit and lucious to make because the feel of the silk against your fingers. It goes from casual to sexy, simply by putting on the black dress you love to wear that makes you feel great. you are sure to get alot of compliments and feel even better, when people say, "where did you get that?" and you can smile and say, "I made it myself." I love this pattern, it's so beautifully and logically written, like all EFA patterns are. I love its simplicity and the statement it makes. I can't recommend EFA patterns enough, such wonderful and talented designers allow even the novice to create something wonderful.
