Adventurous Beginner: This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include: increasing stitches by knitting into the front and back of the same stitch and knitting two stitches together.
Notes From the Designer:
Nautile, which is French for nautilus, is a semi-circular, spiral wedge shawl that features repeating sections of eyelet lace and reverse stockinette stitch. The contrasting textures of these two stitch patterns, which alternate across five wedges, mimic the curves of a nautilus shell. The nautilus shell is a beautiful symbol of life, internal harmony, creation, and evolution that also conforms to the sacred geometry of the Golden Mean, which appears throughout nature and art.
Nautile is knitted flat, and each of the five wedges is constructed by adding one stitch at the beginning of each wedge on all right-side rows. The wedges grow evenly and radiate out from your centrally placed cast-on point. Once you’ve cast on and completed the eight set-up rows, you’ll repeat a four-row stitch pattern that makes up the remainder of the shawl. This all-over design allows the Pearlescent Worsted yarn’s shimmer and shine to take center stage.

Beautiful simple yet elegant shawl.
Anxious to make this - love patterns with multiple textures.
I have the yarn and can't wait to start my new Shawl
Absolutely gorgeous. Can’t wait to start...
I am looking forward to trying this pattern with the pearlescent worsted weight yarn -- I am hoping that they come out with something like the June Pearl (was available in cashsilk) that I could use. I think that would be stunning!
I've started this project about 20 times, but always end up with a different number of stitches in the sections. It's easier to rip out 2-3 inches then it is to go back and un-knit a row. I have finally put it away for a while. I will figure out how to re-write the pattern so the sections are easier to distinguish from each other. I will be successful.....just not right now.
I love the ease of this pattern. It is working up quickly.
Lovely rhythmic pattern to knit
Lovely rhythmic pattern to knit
Lovely rhythmic pattern
Found the pattern numbers on rows did not match up. The pearl style wool was very fuzzy while working with it. Lots of pills.
Beautiful shape and absolutely beautiful yarn.
Perfect for rainy dark days.
Beautiful and fun pattern to knit. I love concentrating on the stitches and watching the shawl come together.
I started this pattern and found it really easy to follow but also interesting. It looks great as it grows. Recommend this pattern for knitters at all levels.
I love this pattern - I’m an adventurous beginner and what made this possible for me to tackle was the explanatory video! It gave me the “yup, I can do this” moment and helped me cast on!!! I love the clear pattern and love how people admiring my project think it’s so complex!!
Love this pattern! Got it on the needles the moment I saw it. Chandigarh, your video tutorial is excellent! Although I am an experienced knitter, I find that watching the tutorial always helps. The pattern is easy and I am progressing fast.
Absolutely love it!
