Notes From the Designer:
When I first saw this lace pattern, I knew I had to create a top with it. This pullover is elegant yet simple. It was designed to allow you to make modifications, if desired, and can be made either as a sleeved or sleeveless version. The name, Panopeia or Πανοπεια, was a Greek sea nymph, the nereid of the sea’s panorama. She could see beyond what was in front of her. Her name means “all-seeing.” Like Panopeia, I hope you see beyond the pattern and explore the possibilities of making this pullover yours. I also hope that you see beyond to a bright future, no matter where you currently are in life.
- Click the Videos tab to watch a tutorial on how to complete the Cable Cast On and k3pass stitch.
- The top is knitted from the bottom up in two pieces.
- The sample top is shown in size Small on a 34” (86.5 cm) bust with 2” (5 cm) of positive ease.
- Directions are given for a sleeveless (A) and a sleeved (B) top.
- The sleeves are made by doing a Cable Cast On at the beginning of the Upper Lace Rows instructions.
- The neckline is a boatneck style. The neck ribbing is continued across the shoulders.

I always love the wonderful patterns you give us and after winning the March Giveaway I started making a Panopeia with three skeins and I am loving the simple yet artsy character of this top. It is also a relaxing pattern for evening TV knitting.

I like the fact that this design will look good in both solid or varigated yarn. Also the idea that it can be made with short sleeves or sleeveless. Variety is always good!
