For more or less positive ease, consider going up or down a size.

The sample is shown in size S on a 34" (86 cm) bust with the length shortened 1.5" (4 cm).

MATERIALS:

Expression Fiber Arts Limited Edition Restore Fingering yarn

The updated sample is shown in Tangible Restore Fingering.

You'll need 2 (2-3, 3, 3) (3-4, 4, 4) skeins or approx. 720 (824, 935, 1027) (1176, 1334, 1501) yds / 658 (753, 855, 939) (1075, 1220, 1373)  of fingering weight yarn.

If those colors aren’t available, any from this category will work.

NEEDLE:

US size 5 (3.75 mm) circulars or size needed to obtain gauge, plus an additional needle of the same size for Three-Needle BO, US size 5 (3.75 mm) 16" circular and/or DPNs for neck and sleeve trim

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate to Advanced – For the adventurous knitter who loves to tackle something a bit more complicated. Skills/concepts include shaping, buttonholes, and calculating rows.

Notes From the Designer:

Lace yarn that’s knit with a drapey gauge is perfect for a great summer top that's easy peasy, nice and breezy! Functional buttonholes on one side of the Pascal tank top add visual interest and allow you to customize your style. Wear them all fastened, or leave the bottom ones open for fun. There are plenty of ways to customize this tank and make it uniquely yours!

  • This tank top is worked flat in two pieces from the bottom up. Once stitches are bound off for the neck shaping, you can either work the straps separately or pull from the other end of your skein to work two at a time. Shoulder stitches are placed on hold until both the front and back are complete and then joined using the three-needle bind-off method. The left side of the tank is then seamed using the Mattress Stitch or your preferred seaming method. The right side is left unseamed, but you will sew buttons on the RS of the back piece to correspond with the buttonholes on the front piece. Stitches are then picked up and worked in the round for the armholes and neck trim. (Both armholes are worked in the round to prevent the tank from falling off or flying away if all the buttons are opened!)

  • The length is easily customizable for this piece. For a longer tank, just work the body to your desired length before beginning the armhole shaping, and then work the rest of the pattern as written.

  • I strongly recommend beginning with a big swatch to make sure you can accurately block to the listed gauge, or a gauge you prefer, before beginning this project.

  • Some sizes will work armhole and neck shaping simultaneously. Before starting, please read all instructions for clarity.

  • The original version of this tank was made with our Alpaca Silk Lace yarn in the color Pink Pearl and used 1 (1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2) skeins respectively. Please note that if you make the pattern with this yarn, it is important to block your swatch and top aggressively.

Normally I wouldn't knit sleeveless tops but this one caught my eye so I even bought the suggested yarn in a gorgeous shade of green. I'm looking forward to starting it soon as Pascal will even be a great cool weather topper.
