Queen Maeve was a warrior queen of Connacht in western Ireland sometime around 50 BCE - 50 CE. Some say she was real, some say she was just a myth.

I love reading mythology from different cultures. As an undergrad in college, I took classes in Greek and Roman mythology and philosophy and lost myself in stories about all the gods and goddesses of the region. I never lost my passion for myths and have been reading Irish and Norse stories. One of the things that I find extremely fascinating in Irish legends is the role of the woman.  Queen Maeve and the women of her time, had the power under the Brehon Laws of ancient Ireland to raise their own armies, hold their own property, and participate in the court system as lawyers and judges (just as we do today). Everything I have read about her gives me the impression that she was a very strong woman, making her a great role model.

That strength of character was the inspiration for the design of this cowl.

Designed by Kristina Smiley.

I have only been crocheting since 2020 and had only worked on blankets until I purchased this pattern. It was super easy to follow and I'm absolutely in love with my finished cowl. It was a quick project as well!

This pattern is well written and easy to follow. I usually prefer to have a graph to refer to, but I didn't need one for this pattern.

Lovely pattern

Love the pattern of stitches on this cowl. It’s a easy pattern to get the hang of. I am thinking of changing the pattern to turn in to a shawl. I get cold in the winter, and the yarns here are so soft!

Will you please revisit row 24? I think the 3 DC were left out. This has been a easy and fun project for today.
