Properties of Yak:

This is yak down, the softest of yak fibers.

-Warm: It has incredible insulating properties, which allow the animals to survive at extreme temperatures.

-Soft: Incredibly soft... buttery is truly the word that comes to mind! Your fingers will thank you as you work with this!

-Strong: Surprisingly strong (stronger than wool), for durable, long-wearing projects.

-Breathable: Do you ever feel sticky in synthetic fibers? Not so with yak... it breathes! It wicks moisture away from your body and releases it into the air, thus allowing you to feel fresher (and smell better!).

-Anti-Microbial: It doesn't attract the little microbes that live on sweat, so your garment stays fresher longer and won't get all stinky. Yay!

Properties of Silk:

-Excellent Insulator: Amazingly, it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter (due to the fact that it doesn't conduct heat)

-Luster: Hello! Shine galore!

-Strength: Long-wearing, durable projects, baby!

-Vivid: Silk takes the dye like crazy... so the colors are rich and bold and saturated.

When yak is combined with silk, you get an amazing, SOFT, lustrous, luxurious, creamy, rich, vibrant yarn that is hard to ignore.

Projects made with this are sure to be adored and exclaimed over and kept for years on end. Do enjoy!

•Softly spun 2-ply lace weight (this is a wee bit thicker than some lace weights, so it's easier to work with, if you're a beginner. Yay!)
•Yardage: 630 m / 680 yd
•Weight: 95-100 g
•Recommended Knitting Needle Size: US 1-3
•Crochet Hook Size: B-D

Note: Each skein is a hand-created, unique work of art and no two skeins will be identical, even within the same dye lot. If working with more than one skein in a project, it is best to alternate skeins every other row. Despite every effort to accurately depict our product colors, actual shades may vary due to differences in monitor settings.

probably the most luxe thing I've bought
5 Stars

This yarn is as soft and shimmery as it looks in the pictures. I was very careful when winding it into a cake because I knew if it got tangled, it would be a disaster trying to untangle it. Had to frog a project back a bit and it was naturally a bit clingy because of how beautifully fluffy it is, but not completely unworkable. Would definitely recommend if someone wants to make something special.

Great customer service

I missed a step using my discount code and your worker helped resolve the issue. Very friendly people make very happy customers. Thank you very much.

Yak Silk Lace
5 Stars

This is an absolutely amazing yarn. I've worked with Yak blends before but always blending with wool and nylon, never silk. This 50/50 blend produces the perfect balance of sheen and halo resulting in a yarn that is very soft in both looks and feel. It has a delicate feel to it but it's strong and doesn't split or shed. I dyed the Rice Paper colorway a champagne using avocado and it took the dye wonderfully. The Rice Paper color itself is a warm white. I'm making a sweater on a size US 2 needle and the stitches are coming out smooth and uniform. This yarn would make gorgeous wedding shawls. I'll definitely be purchasing more in the future.

Beautiful
5 Stars

This yak will be used for a shawl for a very special bride to be in July. A young woman who used to be our neighbor across the street. Special yarn for a special project for a special lady!! I LOVE the yarn!!! Soft, pliable, will drape beautifully!!

Shimmering and incredibly soft
5 Stars

But I need white yarn to knit a wedding shawl. The color is described as "as snow". This color is more ecru then white. I'm sure I will knit this yarn. But it must go in my stash. It's not suitable for the wedding shawl I plan to knit as a gift.

Beautiful Yarn
5 Stars

The yak make the yarn so soft and the silk add a beautiful shine to the yarn. I will enjoy knitting with it. If you like alpaca you will love the softness of this yarn.

Wonderful yarn
5 Stars

I am just getting start on a lace shawl. This yarn is so wonderful. So soft and drapey. Feels great on the skin.

Soft wonderful thin yarn
5 Stars

This yarn feels so silky and soft. It is thin so takes a while to work up. It is well worth it. I am making a shawl, it drapes so beautifully.

Self love kit
5 Stars

I absolutely love this kit and everything that comes with it.

Lovely yarn
5 Stars

This is not the only color of this yarn that I have purchased. I also bought 3 hanks of 'Distressed Bench' yak/silk. Yak is a wonderful fiber on its own, the addition of silk gives it a glimmer. It is soft and warm, drapes well and feels lovely on the hands when working with it.

Because ....
5 Stars

A must have in any stash: Because it's beautiful; Because it's so soft; and, Because it goes with everything. Just Because!!
