MATERIALS:

Expression Fiber Arts Crema Sock Yarn

Shown in colors: Scent of Cinnamon Hues: A) Tan, B) Brown, and C) Mauve.

If those colors aren't available, any from this category will work.

HOOK:

US size E (3.5 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate -  This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include increases and decreases, color changes, simple blocking, and working from a written pattern

Notes From the Designer:

The updated version of this pattern is the perfect accent piece for your wardrobe. Made with our soft Crema Sock yarn, the Stream of Consciousness capelet is lightweight, but also warm. When I first made this pattern, it came to me row by row. I had no idea what it would end up being, but the final result was more beautiful than I could have imagined. There are no repeated rows in this pattern, and each row is different to keep you interested. The original version, which was made with a lace weight yarn, has a soft, diaphanous feel that makes the capelet seem to float!

  • If you wish to make the original (blue) version, you can use three skeins of our Yak Silk Lace yarn. Slightly less than a third of each skein was used (for a total of 3.3 oz/ 640 yards), so if you plan to use a single color, one skein will do the trick. The original colors have been discontinued.

  • The original version was made with a US G (4.0 mm) hook.

  • The sample shown used approximately 715 yards (654 m) total [Color A: 247 yards (226 m), Color B: 257 yards (235 m), and Color C: 211 yards (193 m)].

  • Don't worry about cutting all of your tails as you go and weaving them in later. Just pull each color up the side of the shawl, keeping them loose (very important!), so the shawl will stretch and block beautifully when finished. You’ll cover them up with single crochets at the end.

  • Beginning ch 3 counts as first dc throughout.

Stream of Consciousness Capelet
5 Stars

I love the design but chose a different colour combination as I favour shades of blue and see green. The pattern is easy to follow but does require some focus. It is a perfect ' mindful' crochet pattern.

VERY confusingly written!! Three of us, one very accomplished crocheter, one intermediate, and one less experience all tried following this pattern... and all three of us were so frustrated and fed up! Was it actually tech edited and adequately test crocheted???? Very very disappointing.

Since I’m an English teacher, the name of this pattern struck a note with me. I can only give it 4 stars at the moment since I haven’t had the chance to stark hooking it up. (I’m attempting to keep afloat after being hurled into the uncharted waters of online/distance instruction by the chaos of COVID-19!) Hoping to start a self-care project this weekend where I spend at least 4 hours with a hook in hand...maybe it’ll be this pattern!

Nice pattern

I'm working on this right now. Sure would be nice to have stitch counts at the end of the rows so I know I've got it right before I go onto the next row. I've had to rip out several times when my count was off.

Open and Airy!

I think this is quite a Lovely capelet. I am not as fond of crochet as I am of knitting, but this caught my eye. Lovely work, Chandi!
