If those colors aren't available, any from this category will work. A total of 690 yards were used for the sample shown.

NEEDLES:

US Size 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles with at least a 20” cord to accommodate the larger number of stitches.

Skill Level varies (pattern begins with beginner, then is worked intermediate, and ends with advanced) -  This pattern is for those who wish to be challenged and feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Pattern includes lace and cables.

Notes From the Designer:

•Tamsyn is a progression shawl that is completely customizable depending on your skill level and willingness to be challenged. It begins with alternating rows of Garter and Stockinette Stitch using basic knit and purl stitches, then transitions to a more intermediate pattern with yarn overs and lace, and ends with a more complicated design using twisted stitches and mock cables. You can choose to make the entire shawl using any of the three sections if you wish, or start with one, and progress to the next level that challenges your abilities. Tap into your creativity and make it as simple or complicated as you’d like.

•The pattern is written in a way that is easily customizable for those who wish to solely work within their comfort level and for those who wish to challenge themselves further.

•Color changes are made at the transition to each skill level.

Learning new skills is always a pleasurable challenge for me. Creating this design was a very enjoyable experience. I really liked starting simple with basic stitches and getting more creative as the shawl design progressed. This design is akin to life which starts simple enough and gets more challenging as you grow. When you look back and see where you came from versus where you are now, you get a sense of accomplishment. That is the feeling that I was going for with this shawl.

As soon as I saw this pattern I HAD to make her. I'm using Maine Yarn & Fiber Supply in Kennebec, a beautiful DK of Polwarth wool and silk. I whipped through the first two sections in a week and am ready to start the third. Chandi, any chance of a tutorial to make sure I get this section right? Your patterns are all beautiful and you are so fun!

I picked up this shawl while it was free and am so glad I did. I am working on the first part with Cascade Roslyn 65% wool 35% silk and it is such a smooth, luxurious knit. I love it and will share when I am finished.

I’m currently trying out this pattern. I would love a quick video on the 3rd stage of this pattern in the near future. I’m almost through the easy (1st phase) and will be moving onto the next soon. Hopefully by the time I get to the last part you will have uploaded the last part. I wanted to try my skill set before committing to more expensive yarn. I find your patterns clear and the supplemental videos a great bonus!

I love the variety of stitches. I plan to use the two more complicated ones when I make this shawl. I did find the website a little difficult to navigate however, but worth the work.
