The sample shown used 922 yards total: Color A (gold): 272 yds, B (brown): 323 yds, and C (plum): 327 yds.
US size G/6 (4.25 mm) crochet hook
Any size that is appropriate for the yarn selected. Refer to the tag/label for the recommended sizes.
Beginner - Perfect for those who are just beginning or have crocheted a project or two. Stitches include: FSC, decrease sts, and color changes.
Notes From the Designer:
This beginner pattern takes a simple row of double crochet and adds evenly spaced increases and decreases to create a lovely wave pattern. Working in just the back of the stitches creates additional texture.
Hues of amber, nutmeg and burgundy are reminiscent of fall leaves, gently fluttering in an autumn breeze.
By using your favorite color palette and varying the width of the color bands, a truly custom shawl is easily created.

I began to make IT with diferent colour. Nice and relaxant lume waves. Thank you!
Made this as a gift. Very easy to follow and end result was very beautiful. Will definitely make another one
What a beautiful pattern. So lacy & feminine. Can't wait to get started.
This is a very nice, easy pattern; well written. I'm making it one repeat narrower and using a long-striping cotton yarn for a summer scarf. Loving it so far!
Great pattern. Easy to understand even for a total beginner like me. The youtube Video was a great help without the video I could not have done it. Thanks alot for the lovely pattern.
Undulating Tranquility could be another name for this pattern. I'm currently working on this project to take when I'm traveling (which is weekly) because with the yarn recommended, it's very compact to pack. It's true that a modestly skilled beginner can easily do this project, but DEFINITELY do a gauge swatch!! Even though I chose a similar fingering weight, I still had to go up 1.25 mm and use a 5.5 mm crochet hook to get the same drippiness as shown. Also, this is a piece you need to plan on blocking. As for the pattern, very consistent, well written instructions that are easy to follow. My only frustration, not with this pattern, but 99% of patterns that provides pictures of the finished project would get at least 1 closer - not necessary close up - shot. Just for stitch reference. But then maybe that's just me.
I have no words that can describe how BEAUTIFUL the finished product is. The pattern is super easy (but you should still pay attention to your stitch count). I was worried at first because the shawl was a lot smaller than the pattern suggested, but then I followed Chandi’s wet blocking technique and I was amazed how the shawl came to life as it grew. Absolutely in love & I can’t wait to try the next pattern.
Love the yarn but spent too much time trying to wind and wish that could be done!
ive never done a crochet project before just knitting. im enjoying this pattern. its well written and the video really was helpful! ill make another one
Very nice pattern and texture! I used the instructions to modify it into a scarf, as I only had two skeins of worsted weight yarn; very easy to follow - I'm only a beginner, but very proud of my accomplishment!
This shawl is gorgeous!
It's been so emotional to crochet this one... it reminds me of the afternoons where my grandma and I crochetted (she was the one who taught me) and she used to make me crochet long pieces to practice the same stitch "until they're all even". It's a meditative project, great for changes of colour in each row or something that induces the patience of the more eager spirits. I just loved it!
I love this pattern. So easy but stylish. This is for me to keep as most of what I make I give away. Thank you so much Chandi.
I purchased my yarn before the pattern. I'm using Malabrigos Rio in three different colors. I LOVE the shawl so far, but I'm only halfway. My crochet matches what was displayed in the video, though it doesn't seem as wide... I'm wishing I did a larger foundation chain. BUT I'm happy with the beauty. Next time, I'll use the milgaro sport yarn. That's the only reason I give this four stars instead of five... because my project isn't as wide as what I saw in the video and in the pattern description.
I found my yarn before my pattern and I am using Malabrigos Rio in three different colors. I'm LOVING the look, though I'm only halfway through the project. My crochet looks like the video example and I'm not crocheting tight, but maybe my yarn makes a difference for it not being as wide as displayed in the pattern/video. Next time, I'll use the Milgro Sport as suggested. That's the only reason I mark this with four stars instead of five. The shawl isn't as wide as projected, though I did the foundation chain that wide.
I love this pattern... I found this pattern AFTER I purchased the yarn I wanted to use on a shawl. I used Malabrigos Rio in thee different colors. I'm only halfway through with crocheting the shawl, but I have noticed it is not as wide as what is displayed on the pattern or in the video. I suspect it is the yarn? But I don't know. I'm not crocheting tight... and actually, the video showed the crochet matching up with what I'm doing with mine. BUT... I still love the pattern. Wish I could post a picture. Maybe next time I'll use the milgro yarn....
This will be a fall or winter project.
This was such a lovely pattern with all of its texture and beauty. Really a joy to work on!!

I am waiting for the yarn recommended for this shawl pattern to ship later this month, but the pattern is like others I have used before for blankets, though I have never used it for a shawl. The colors used in the pattern photo are wonderful and I look forward to making the shawl with the Umber Hues Mirage Sport yarn.

I was looking for a pattern for en elderly neighbour of mine to refresh her love of the "ripple stitch blanket" she used to make, over and over, many years ago. I showed her this pattern, and she is now helping to make prayer shawls for our church, as she loves this pattern so much!
I love this pattern. I’m a knitter but this pattern has made me a crocheter too.

The pattern is easy to read and the video tutorial is as always wonderful to watch. The shawl worked up fantastically. I'm now using the same pattern to work up a little baby blanket. Very versatile.
