US size 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 40” or longer to accommodate the large number of sts.

Adventurous Beginner- This pattern is suited to the new knitter looking to add some skills to their repertoire.

-I was sitting on an airplane one day, frrrreezing. I thought - wouldn't it be miraculous to have a blanket right now? OH, but then I'd have to carry it around the airport. What if I had a wearable blanket?! Sweet! Thus, the idea for this World Tour sweater blanket was born!

Notes From the Designer:

•Ideal for plane travel or road trips. Wear around the office even if you have crazy coworkers that crank up the AC. Wear as a beach coverup! Lots of options!

•This cozy travel blanket comes with a surprise: armholes! Now you can wrap up in your favorite blanket and still keep your hands free to get things done! Split textures keep this piece interesting and add a focal point at the sleeve split.  You’ll never want to leave home without it, but you might have to fight the rest of the family to keep it!

•This blanket is knit width wise from the bottom edge to the top.

•A garter stitch border is worked simultaneously with the body of the blanket.

•Once the textured section at the bottom of the body is complete, the top part of the body will be worked in Stockinette in sections, with the remaining sts placed on hold until the armholes are complete, and then the held sts will be returned to the needles to complete the top part of the body and border.

•Width can easily be adjusted by casting on more or fewer sts in a multiple of 2. Length can be adjusted by working each section to your desired length before moving on to the next section. If adjusting the armhole size, keep track of the number of rows worked so you can work each section the same. Of course, you can also omit the armholes entirely and just make a fun blanket!

•Shown in one color, but you can easily work with multiple colors to suit your preference or stash bust.

•At the time I was planning this piece, a couple of my favorite Japanese bands were gearing up for for new worldwide concert tours, which is how this pattern earned its name. I will travel anywhere for a good concert if I like the band and they aren’t playing anywhere near me. My twenties were spent driving all over the Eastern Seaboard (and once to the West Coast) in search of good concerts. My thirties have been spent flying (and taking the train) to do much the same. I don’t expect that to stop anytime soon, and now I have the ultimate travel piece to accompany my adventures. Let it accompany you on your next tour to wherever as well!

I love it. All my other Australian friends (9)want me to knit them one . Not finished it yet but one said not to leave it lying around. Or it might just pop into their bag when they leave lol

Just lovely and thank you for posting the patterns free! I save them for later when I finish other projects and can afford more yarn! :-) The only way I can see to keep warm with this though is to take it off and wrap it around you? (Because of arm holes.) Lovely design and such a great idea to meet a real need! Who doesn't freeze in airports, restaurants, grocery freezer aisles, etc., etc.!! thanks Chandi!
