Notes From the Designer:

The design of this shawl emphasizes long spikes of flowers that radiate from its center, surrounded by a garter stitch background. A simple trellis style lace pattern forms the outer border in a contrasting color.

Beginning with a knitted tab, similar to a garter tab, stitches are picked up along 2 of its edges, and the shawl is worked outward. The crescent shape is created by increasing stitches at several points along the right side rows.

Both lace patterns are simple to work, and would be suitable for an advanced beginner. The size is easily customized, as the second color may be joined at almost any time.
