Notes From the Designer:

•This pattern has all the fun things to keep you entertained while knitting it this spring!  A top-down yoke with a simple but fun stitch pattern that continues into the sleeves, which are worked seamlessly down to the cuffs, and an option for a gradient or solid color give you plenty of options for customizing your sweater! The top down body also allows you to customize the length of your sweater before moving into the rib. Crop it or lengthen it as you please!
•This sweater begins with a provisional cast on at the neck so you can work short row neck shaping after the body is complete. If you prefer to omit the short rows, you can use a regular cast on and work the ribbing before beginning the yoke.
•Instructions are given for a three-color gradient, but you can work more or fewer colors. If working with hand-dyed yarns over large sections of fabric, you may want to alternate skeins every couple of rows to minimize color pooling.
•This sweater shares a stitch pattern with the Arklund Scarf. Both patterns are named after locations in Tales of Xilia, one of my favorite video games. In the game, Arklund Quag is adjacent to the city of Fennmont, which is in a state of eternal nighttime. I opted to work the gradient for this sample with the darkest color at the top down to the lightest color to mimic the night sky, which is darkest at the deepest, or “top,” part of the sky, fading to lighter colors down near the horizon. Whether or not you’re into video games, let this be your nighttime sky, or at least your stargazing sweater!
