Notes From the Designer:

This crescent shawl begins with a simple stitch pattern that radiates out to a pretty lace edging. The colors chosen give it a soft, understated elegance. As a Jane Austen fan, I could easily imagine it as an ideal shawl to wear during a misty morning stroll through the grounds of this handsome estate.

The majority of the shawl is worked in rows of single crochet mixed in with a row of half double crochet and an extended double crochet spike stitch. The extended dc spike stitch blends the alternating colors of the shawl. The edge pattern contains no special stitches and should be workable by an advanced beginner.

  • To change the size of this shawl, the first row of the border pattern must result in any multiple of 8 + 1 sc. Therefore, you may stop on any WS row, then use the first row of the border to work evenly spaced increases to bring the count up to the proper stitch count.

“Elizabeth was delighted. She had never seen a place for which nature had done more, or where natural beauty had been so little counteracted by an awkward taste. They were all of them warm in their admiration; and at that moment she felt, that to be mistress of Pemberley might be something!” - Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
