We used 6.1 oz/840 yd total. You can use fewer colors if you prefer or any other fingering yarn base. Lace or sport will work too!

NEEDLES: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) 32" circular needles or longer to accommodate the large number of sts.

Notes From the Designer:

•Saiki is your new go-to shawl for fall! Two alternating texture patterns and your choice of colors allow for easy customization to create an accessory that is completely you! Solids, semi-solids and variegates will all look great in this piece.

•The simplicity of garter stitch and an intuitive lace pattern make this shawl great for beginners as well as seasoned knitters who just need a good tv or knit night project. The pattern tells you where to stop, but is easily adjustable, so you can bind off whenever you want. Begin with a few stitches at the bottom tip and end whenever your shawl is wide enough for your preference!

•As with so many of my patterns, the name of this one was inspired by a strong woman and good music. Saiki is the lead singer for Japanese rock group Band-Maid, whose members are all insanely talented women who love to shred. I've been listening to them a lot lately as I work on new patterns, so it just seemed appropriate to start naming patterns in honor of these ladies who are breaking down barriers in the music scene. Saiki's vocals won her the first nod, as I love a good alto, and good altos are hard to find in any language! (Can you tell I'm an alto, too?)
